Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 294 of 501

"Damn you, your lord is talking to you!" Seeing that Yang Ce was ignoring him, the scar-faced man felt he had lost face and, in a rage, reached out to grab Yang Ce by the collar.

"Smack." The instant the scar-faced man's hand was about to touch Yang Ce's collar, it jerked to a dead halt, seized in an iron grip by something. The scar-faced man looked up in astonishment and was startled to find that his hand had been caught by the young man before him.

His loss of face stung all the more. He threw all his strength into grabbing at Yang Ce, only to find his wrist as good as nailed in place, unable to move a fraction of an inch.

Yang Ce looked coldly at the scar-faced man and said, very calmly, "Whoever poured it on you—go find him."

A flicker of surprise crossed the scar-faced man's eyes, but what he felt most was alarm: this young man had pinned his right hand with nothing but his left, and what strength that must have taken!

A man long seasoned in the ways of the world, the scar-faced man understood at once that he had run into a ruthless character today—that in this young man's eyes, his own strength probably counted for nothing. After a moment's hesitation, he forced an awkward smile onto his face and said, "Of course, of course."

Since Yang Ce was telling him to go after whoever had poured it, that made it plain that Yang Ce would not interfere while he beat Hong Kai.

He could not afford to cross Yang Ce—but surely he could afford to cross Hong Kai? One look told him the man was a soft egg. At that thought, the scar-faced man tugged his hand back, and Yang Ce, making no further trouble for him, let go.

Seeing the ring of red marks like an iron band around his wrist, the scar-faced man was filled with dread. Good thing he had not lost his temper—this man before him was clearly a hardened hand.

Turning his head, he bared his teeth in a savage grin at Hong Kai, ready to vent every last ounce of his fury on the little wretch.

"Big brother, I—I'd just had too much to drink, I was dizzy and my feet weren't steady, that's how I spilled the liquor by accident!" Seeing that the scar-faced man was about to beat him again, Hong Kai was so frightened he nearly wet his pants, and in his panic he blurted out to the scar-faced man the very excuse he had prepared for Yan.

"Damn you, like hell I believe that!" The scar-faced man swung his arm and began again, raining blows on Hong Kai from left and right, pounding him without mercy.

Hong Kai's family was powerful enough in its own right, close to the underworld as well—but this Xianren Resort was on the outskirts of Songjiang City, a thousand miles from his family's freight yard. Even if he wanted to call for help now, distant water could not put out a nearby fire.

Wei Jin simply could not bear to watch any longer, and had no choice but to call his cousin Sui Yuemin and tell him what was happening. Sui Yuemin was in his office playing mahjong with a few vice presidents, but he could hardly ignore Wei Jin's trouble—he still had to depend on Wei Jin's father's goodwill to make a little extra money on the side.

So after hanging up, Sui Yuemin hastily led the security guards rushing toward the restaurant. But he was still a step too late—Hong Kai had already been beaten by Scarface into a bloody pulp.

"Who has the nerve to make trouble inside the Immortal Resort?" Sui Yuemin demanded in a cold voice, his face dark. But no sooner had the words left his mouth than he saw who the troublemaker was.

He did not recognize this Scarface, but at the table where Scarface's bunch was sitting, the man in the seat of honor was someone Sui Yuemin knew. Sui Yuemin's expression changed on the spot, and he thought to himself: Wei Jin, your friend has really stepped in it this time.

"Uncle, it's this guy!" Seeing Sui Yuemin arrive with a pack of enforcers, Wei Jin's spine stiffened.

923. Wrong Door

"Uncle, it's this guy!" Seeing Sui Yuemin arrive with a pack of enforcers, Wei Jin's spine stiffened, and he pointed at Scarface and said rather cockily.

"Sui Yuemin, these kids your relatives?" A middle-aged man at Scarface's table spoke up, though his tone had already turned somewhat displeased.

"Who're you calling a kid?" Wei Jin, not yet having grasped the situation, heard the middle-aged man call him a kid and immediately took offense.

"Wei Jin!" Sui Yuemin nearly jumped out of his skin. He hurried over in a few swift strides, pulled Wei Jin back, and said, "Apologize to Brother Long this instant!"

"Brother Long?" Wei Jin was stunned. But seeing the look on his uncle's face, he immediately understood a thing or two—this bunch before him was something even his uncle could not afford to cross. At that thought, he shut his mouth at once and dared not say another word.

"Forget it, Ah Zhong, come back." The middle-aged man waved a hand at Scarface, then said to Sui Yuemin, "Since they're your relatives, let it go. I don't care to hold a grudge against children."

Only then did Scarface release Hong Kai. The middle-aged man rose to his feet, and when he did, everyone at that table rose with him.

"Brother Long, you're—" Sui Yuemin hurriedly put on a careful, fawning smile.

"Eaten my fill. What, is there a problem?" the middle-aged man called Brother Long said mildly.

"No problem, no problem at all. Please, Brother Long, go right ahead," Sui Yuemin said, nodding and bowing.

When Brother Long passed by Yang Cenbin's table, however, his gaze came to rest on Yang Juehuan. He had witnessed that brief exchange between Yang Ce and Scarface earlier, and he was quite curious how Yang Ce had subdued Scarface in a single move.

"Young man, you're no simple fellow." Brother Long stared at Yang Ce for a good long while, only to find that Yang Ce showed not the slightest fear of his gaze and simply went on doing exactly as he pleased. Brother Long's face could not help but tighten, and so he spoke with a touch of sarcasm.

"Simple or not isn't for you to say." Yang Ce glanced at Brother Long and spoke flatly, not a ripple on his face.

Brother Long's expression shifted slightly. It had been a very, very long time since anyone had dared speak to him like that. "What's your name?"

"Actually, I could choose not to answer that question. But answering it doesn't matter either." Yang Ce spoke as though it were of no consequence. "My name is Yang Ce."

"Yang Ce. Yang Ce." A flicker of surprise crossed Brother Long's face. "You're with the Sun family of East Sea?"

Though Brother Long did not say it outright, Yang Jiyan understood his meaning well enough and gave a slight nod. The reason Yang Ce admitted it so quickly was also that Chen Shutang was right there beside him—if this fellow started spouting something like "you're the Sun family's son-in-law," that would be a bit awkward.

And the other reason was that when Brother Long mentioned the Sun family, his expression was full of respect, without a trace of displeasure. So Yang Ce concluded that this man before him must be on good terms with the Sun family, and only then nodded in acknowledgment.

"So it really is you!" Brother Long suddenly burst out laughing. His manner changed entirely from a moment ago, and he clapped Yang Juehuan on the shoulder in a most friendly way. "A hero indeed comes from the young! Good, good, good!"

Brother Long said "good" three times in a row, which left Yang Ce somewhat baffled. "Good what? You are—?"

"My surname is Tian, and my given name is Long. My boy's at the same school as you, isn't he?" Brother Long introduced himself with a smile.

"Tian Yan?" Yang Ce blurted out, startled.

"Heh heh, that's right. So you really are that Yang Ce," Tian Long said with a nod.
