Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 289 of 501

"I went in to see if there was any news about Liu Ting in her space," Wei Jin explained, blushing. "And then I found out there was a password."

"Then why didn't you just go into Liu Ting's space directly?" Hong Kai asked, skeptical.

"I wanted to, but Liu Ting's space had a password too. That's when it occurred to me to check Chen Shutang's space for clues." Wei Jin wasn't lying; he really had been trying to get into Liu Ting's space. To be continued.

919. Rivals Meet

919 Rivals Meet "Hey, man, this is where you're clueless," Hong Kai said with a mysterious smile. "Let me tell you about a great little program. It's called the QQ Space Album Viewer. With this, you don't need the space password—you can go straight into the albums and look around."

"No way, there's really a program that badass?" Wei Jin's interest was instantly piqued. Then he leered and said, "There's this guy at school I can't stand. He uploaded photos of himself and his girlfriend doing it to his space, but he set a password so nobody can see them. If I use this program to pull out their photos, heh heh..."

"Your situation probably won't work. This program only bypasses the space password, not the album password," Hong Kai said, shaking his head.

"Is that so? All that excitement for nothing. I was already thinking about using this to mess with that rival of mine," Wei Jin said, disappointed. "Still, once I get back, I'm using it to look at Liu Ting's albums."

"Fine, I'll send it to you over QQ when I get the chance," Hong Kai agreed.

"You little bastard, this reunion of yours isn't just because of Chen Shutang, is it?" Wei Jin asked.

"More or less. Otherwise who the hell would come out here for no reason, to watch you run some honey trap? I'd be better off at home sleeping," Hong Kai said.

"I wonder what Li Yixun is up to these days. Back then you two were at each other's throats," Wei Jin said, suddenly thinking of one of Hong Kai's old rivals.

"Fuck that guy. He was always throwing his family's weight around to get one over on me. These days, though, I'm not necessarily afraid of him anymore," Hong Kai said with a mixture of feeling and resentment.

"How do you know his family hasn't prospered these past few years?" Wei Jin still had some fear of Li Yixun. That guy's older brother was rumored to be in the underworld. Though Wei Jin's own father was now a far cry from what he used to be, he didn't want to provoke anyone with ties to the underworld. Those kinds of people were what businessmen dreaded most. Wei Jin's father was in real estate and often played by his own rules, but it was all small-time stuff. Compared to the real people on the road, he was far behind.

Hong Kai was dismissive of Wei Jin's words. "Are you still scared of him because of back then? What the hell can he do? His family's all from Donghai; he's got no power in Songjiang."

"I just think it's best to have as little to do with people like that as possible. They're not our kind," Wei Jin said. Deep down he was afraid of Li Yixun. Back then, he'd been trying to cozy up to Chen Shutang, and Li Yixun had showed up with a bunch of street thugs and surrounded him. It scared him badly, and after that he switched his sights to Liu Ting.

But Hong Kai's family had some muscle too. His old man was the big boss of the Eastern Freight Yard and had a fair number of workers under him—half underworld in nature, really. So when Li Yixun butted heads with him, he didn't come out ahead. And in recent years, Hong Kai's family had grown bigger and bigger, practically monopolizing the foreign waste wholesale market at Songjiang Harbor. So Hong Kai himself had gotten cocky.

"To hell with him," Hong Kai said, curling his lip. "If he tries to play tough with me again this time, just watch me take him down."

Before long, it was one o'clock in the afternoon, and the old middle-school classmates arrived one after another at the Xianren Resort. Wei Jin put away his earlier lecherous look and resumed the appearance of an elegant gentleman.

Back in the day, Wei Jin had been the class monitor, and now in university he was in the student council too. It was just that he was very good at putting on a front in public, making himself out to be a model student. People who didn't know him well rarely realized how filthy his mind really was.

In this respect, he was very much like Zou Ruoguang. Zou Ruoguang was also a student council cadre at the university, usually putting on the airs of a proper gentleman, yet at this very moment he was in a room having a wild time with Zhao Xiaoyan.

Originally, the AIDS virus still had only a chance of transmission. Once or twice might not be enough to infect someone. The odds were slim but not zero. But given how Zou Ruoguang was carrying on now, he was probably infected ten times over.

Zhao Xiaoyan had started out doing it with Zou Ruoguang just to go through the motions, but since being infected she hadn't done it in a long time. Zou Ruoguang's repeated efforts had left her feeling quite good, so she simply threw caution to the wind, and the two of them spent the entire afternoon on the sofa.

For all that Hong Kai was a lecher, back in middle school he'd been a class officer too. Not one who did much managing, but at least he was the P.E. representative, which meant he could sit on the class committee.

Seeing the classmates arrive one after another, the two of them immediately put on sunny smiles and started organizing registration, collecting fifty yuan in activity fees from each person.

Wei Jin had money, but he wasn't about to throw it away on something so meaningless. It was a class reunion, so everyone could split the cost. Fifty yuan wasn't much for a student these days anyway.

Of course, many people had brought their boyfriends or girlfriends along, so they just paid double. And the more Wei Jin didn't want to see someone, the more surely that person showed up. Li Yixun came swaggering in, and Wei Jin's smile froze for a moment.

That business back then had been a humiliation for Wei Jin. But at the time, his father had been nothing more than a contractor on a small construction site, far below Li Yixun and his brother with the bathhouse. Things were different now. Thinking of how his own father was a big shot in his own right these days, Wei Jin felt a little better. "Well, if it isn't Li Yixun. What's the matter, came alone? No girlfriend?"

"Still haven't won her over yet," Li Yixun said. That was just his nature—blunt and unguarded.

The speaker meant nothing by it, but the listener took it to heart. Hong Kai started turning it over in his mind: Could this guy still be after Chen Shutang too? At that thought he couldn't hold back and probed, "Who is it? Young Master Li strikes out? She must be harder to get than Chen Shutang."

Hearing Hong Kai's words, Li Yixun gave him a meaningful look before saying, "Even if I told you, you wouldn't know her."

Hong Kai hadn't really cared who Li Yixun was chasing now. As long as it wasn't Chen Shutang, all was well. So he smiled and said, "Ha, looks like Young Master Li has shifted targets. That puts my mind at ease."

"Don't tell me you're still chasing Chen Shutang?" Li Yixun had suspected as much before, and now Hong Kai's words only confirmed it.

"Yeah, but I haven't won her over yet," Hong Kai said, no longer afraid to admit it. "Young Master Li, the friction between us was really all about Chen Shutang. Now that you don't like her anymore, we can absolutely be good friends."

"Is that so?" Li Yixun countered instead. Li Yixun was a man who, though he too had some dealings with the rougher side of society, was fundamentally different from Wei Jin and Hong Kai. Li Yixun was a straightforward, generous sort—he disliked scheming and plotting, and he acted boldly and decisively. Wei Jin and Hong Kai were another matter entirely; both were the quietly vicious type, and Li Yixun naturally had no wish to keep company with men like that.
