Chapter 826 — Leaving Just Like That?

The Blossom Guardian

"No!" Gu Mengyao refused Hong Mao's proposal flatly.

"I don't want to force you. There'd be no fun in that." Seeing that Gu Mengyao did not know enough to appreciate his favor, Hong Mao grew somewhat angry.

"And I don't want to blow this out of proportion." By this Gu Mengyao meant Wei Zhao. If Wei Zhao were the one to settle the trouble before them, these people would most likely all end up on the floor.

"Fine. I'll give you one more choice. One of you two races me. Win, and we drop the matter. Lose, and both of you stay tonight to keep me company!" Hong Mao looked like a man who had already swallowed Gu Mengyao whole.

Hearing her words, he took them for fear, and so he raised a demand even more outrageous. Who did not know that Hong Mao was the god of racing here? At simulated racing games he had hardly a rival.

"Oh? And what if you lose?" Sometime, somehow, Wei Zhao had appeared silently behind Hong Mao and asked this into his ear, frightening him half to death; his scalp nearly burst, and he thought he had seen a ghost in broad daylight.

Hong Mao whipped his head around, saw Wei Zhao, and at once roared in fury, "Kid, where did you crawl out from? You want to stick your nose into this?"

"I came with them." Wei Zhao said mildly. "Answer me. What happens if you lose?"

"How could I lose?" Hong Mao sneered, as though he had heard a magnificent joke, his voice thick with contempt.

"A contest should be fair. They lose, they keep you company tonight. What if you lose?" Wei Zhao ignored Hong Mao's laughter and asked, still in that mild tone.

"If they lose, they stay and keep me company. If I lose, then naturally I keep them company!" Hong Mao laughed heartily, his grin slick with lewdness.

"In that case there's no need to race at all. Let's go." Wei Zhao turned to Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu. "This man's brain is broken. He can't even work out simple logic. Racing a fool like him, even winning would be meaningless."

"Mm, I think so too!" Shen Yushu nodded, deeply convinced. With Wei Zhao here, she was no longer afraid of Hong Mao.

Gu Mengyao, too, hid a smile behind her hand. Wei Zhao's words were rather provoking, but Hong Mao truly was unreasonable; he had been the one to come over and make advances, and she had not provoked him at all.

"Kid, you mean you're just going to walk off like this? Who do you think you are?" Hong Mao was riled by Wei Zhao's attitude. In this arcade he was a name to be reckoned with; who dared refuse him face? "Well then, you're not leaving either!"

"Don't make trouble for yourself." Wei Zhao paid Hong Mao no mind at all; he simply did not consider such a man worth his attention.

Seeing that Wei Zhao had arrived, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu took heart. Flanking him left and right, they made to leave.

"Brother Arrow, how many game coins did you buy? Is it enough to play with?" Shen Yushu seemed to have forgotten Hong Mao entirely and gazed excitedly at the coins in Wei Zhao's hand.

"Damn it, hold them here for me!" Hong Mao had not wanted to stir up trouble in the arcade, since the owner here had serious backing, but Wei Zhao and the others were so brazen that if he did not act now, he would lose every last shred of face today.

As he spoke, Hong Mao reached out to seize Shen Yushu, but before his hand could touch her it was caught in a grip so tight he could not move.

"I told you, don't make trouble for yourself. Can't you understand plain words?" Wei Zhao looked at Hong Mao and asked coldly.

Hong Mao struggled with all his might to wrench his hand free of Wei Zhao's grip, only to find his wrist clamped as if in iron pincers, utterly immovable. Terror stirred in his heart. "Let go of me, fuck your mother!"

"Crack--" Wei Zhao's grip tightened a notch. Though Wei Zhao did not know who his own mother was, Hong Mao's words still angered him somewhat. A single ounce more of force and Hong Mao's wrist would be ruined.

"Awooo--" Hong Mao let out a shrill, wretched scream. He felt as though his wrist were about to be crushed to bursting in Wei Zhao's hand.

"Let go of Brother Hong Mao!" The bald man from before saw Hong Mao's hand pinned in Wei Zhao's grip and grew frantic. Seizing the advantage of Wei Zhao's immobilized right hand, he drove a fist at Wei Zhao from behind, meaning to ambush him! As long as Wei Zhao felt the pain, he would surely release Hong Mao's arm.

"Wei Zhao, look out!" Gu Mengyao was startled and hastily called a warning.

The bald man sneered inwardly. Warning him is useless! Unless Wei Zhao let go of Hong Mao and turned to block, the blow was bound to land.

But the bald man's sneer did not last long. His expression froze, and then, with a "ga," he flew backward through the air.

Wei Zhao's leg lashed out backward at an utterly inconceivable angle and with impossible force, nearly at a right angle to his own back, sending the bald man flying with a single kick to crash against the arcade wall.

And the little thugs who had been itching to rush up and ambush Wei Zhao alongside the bald man all hesitated. The angle of that kick was too outlandish; an ordinary person could kick backward, yes, but only from very close range, and never with much force. For someone to send a man flying with one kick the way Wei Zhao had, that was flatly impossible!

Hong Mao was no fool either. One move was enough to tell him that Wei Zhao was not a man to be trifled with. He knew he had run into a hard case this time, and his voice lost its earlier bluster. "Brother, what circles do you run in? Who's your boss? Maybe we know each other..."

"My boss is standing right there." Wei Zhao pointed with his other hand at Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu. Shen Yushu even cooperated by raising a hand and waving hello to Hong Mao.

"Shit, you're messing with me?" Hong Mao instinctively assumed Wei Zhao was toying with him. What sort of boss was two women? What kind of nonsense was that? So Hong Mao's rage flared at once. "I don't care whose crew you run with. Do you know whose turf this is? This place belongs to Brother Zou Ruoguang's family. Acting like this here, are you tired of living?"

"Zou Ruoguang?" Wei Zhao was taken aback. No wonder the sign "Tiandi Splendid Years Entertainment Center" had sounded vaguely familiar when he walked in. So this was Zou Tiandi's property as well.

By then Hong Mao's underlings had long since gone to fetch Zou Ruoguang. The situation had slipped beyond their control. Wei Zhao was plainly no weakling, the bald man lay on the ground not knowing whether he was dead or alive, and Hong Mao himself was being held hostage. The underlings dared not make a reckless move and could only go seek Zou Ruoguang's aid.

Zou Ruoguang was exceedingly irritated. Today a young gentleman of high birth had come from Donghai City in the provincial capital; the man's father was in talks with Zou Ruoguang's own Zou Tiandi over a business partnership, so Zou Ruoguang was showing the young gentleman a fine time at his entertainment center. He was in the middle of a game of billiards when Hong Mao's underling barged in and interrupted him.
