Chapter 815 — Dreaming?

Years of Heartflutter

"Left Elder, you mean this wasn't the Right Elder's doing, but rather the work of the Little Strategist, Kun Cun, and Black Gao from the Right Miao Village, acting on their own?" Granny Lan nodded and asked.

"Exactly. Otherwise, if there were nothing wrong with the Right Elder, why wouldn't he come out and announce it himself? Such a major decision—anyone else would surely announce it in person. But the Right Elder didn't come out. What does that tell us?" the Left Elder said. "It tells us the Right Elder simply cannot come out to announce it! Those three must have seen that the Right Elder was finished, that he had become an idiot and could no longer manage the Right Miao Village, and so they made a snap decision to manage it in his stead..."

"Very reasonable!" Granny Lan agreed with the Left Elder. "In that case, the Right Elder really is finished, and our chance to attack the Right Miao Village has come..."

"Or perhaps it's because of internal strife?" the Deputy Village Chief analyzed. "Before, the Little Strategist held sole power after the Right Elder went into seclusion. Now two more people have appeared. Maybe those two refused to submit to the Little Strategist and forced him into this decision?"

It must be said that the Deputy Village Chief's guess was basically close to the truth.

"True. But even if it is internal strife, it still shows one thing: the Right Elder no longer has the strength to control the Right Miao Village. Otherwise, given how domineering the Right Elder is, how could he allow these people to fight among themselves?" Granny Lan said. "So we can basically conclude that the Right Elder's Swift Cicada Gu has taken effect!"

"Then... should we go attack the Right Miao Village?" Yang Yanchuan said.

"Yes. We'll go tomorrow. It's time to settle this once and for all!" Granny Lan nodded. "After all this time, we can finally wipe out this traitor!"

And so the matter was settled. Early the next morning, Granny Lan would lead her people to attack the Right Miao Village. Everyone discussed the plan in detail, and naturally the plan would only be announced to the village folk right before they set out the next day. If word got out any earlier, the traitor on their side would likely pass the news along at once!

Although the Right Miao Village had lost the Right Elder—like a tiger without teeth, nothing to fear—and the others had no ability to resist at all, if they were given time to prepare, these people might be driven to desperate measures, and then dealing with them would still be somewhat difficult.

As for Granny Lan's side, she did not want to waste a single soldier. She wanted to swallow the Right Miao Village whole, so naturally word could not be leaked in advance. They would catch them off guard and net the entire Right Miao Village in one sweep!

That night was undoubtedly a night of excitement. Yang Ce, Feng Yan, Liu Yu, Xiao Susu, and Xia Xue were all thrilled!

The mission that had brought them to Miao Territory was to eliminate the Right Elder, and tomorrow that wish would come true. Their task would then be brought to a perfect conclusion, and they could go back and report.

Liu Yan and Chen Xiaojing were happy too. Once the matter of the Right Elder was over, they could go home and see their parents.

As for Yiyi, she felt a little sorrowful. Once it was all over, she would have to part from Lin Ce. Lin Ce could not leave this area; the spring water had to sustain his life. Even during these few days at the Blue Miao Village, Lin Ce had already had one episode. It was Yang Ce who had flown him by helicopter through the night to the spring to drink the water.

Of course, Yang Ce had gone rather secretly, and the Right Elder's spy in the Blue Miao Village had not seen him.

After all, helicopters often flew out of the jungle from the Blue Miao Village to buy daily supplies in town, so helicopters coming and going were nothing conspicuous or unusual.

Lin Ce, for his part, took it all in stride. He had grown used to life in the wild mountains; returning to the city would actually make him uncomfortable.

"Yiyi, sooner or later you'll go back with Liu Yu. Go see the world a bit. As for your godfather, I've gotten used to this place and don't want to leave!" Lin Ce said. "Besides, you'll have your child to keep me company, so I won't be too lonely. Though I'm afraid you and Liu Yu won't be able to bear parting with him!"

"I'll definitely be able to bear it!" Yiyi said.

"No problem for me either!" Liu Yu said. "Actually, going by my old man's usual ways and thinking, his children all have to go out and temper themselves, especially the boys. Look at me—didn't I go out to temper myself and take on dangerous missions? So it's only natural for my son to stay here and temper himself! An uncut jade can't become a useful vessel!"

"Since you both say so, then I have even less to worry about!" Lin Ce laughed heartily, quite free and easy...

Early the next morning, Granny Lan ordered the Left Elder of the Blue Miao Village, Lan Ling, and others to lead a contingent of the Blue Miao Village's elite fighters and set out for the Right Elder's village. The Deputy Village Chief and Brother Rong stayed behind to guard the Blue Miao Village, so there was no fear of anyone stirring up trouble while they were gone.

By now, even if one of the Right Elder's spies passed the news to the Right Miao Village, it would be too late. By the time the message arrived, Granny Lan would already have led her people there—they would have reached the Right Miao Village long ago, and the message would be useless.

The Right Miao Village had undergone its transfer of power only yesterday. The Little Strategist, Black Gao, and Kun Cun had just become the Left, Center, and Right Elders. They had celebrated all night, and the whole Right Miao Village had naturally drunk and celebrated along with them. So early this morning, many people still had not sobered up. Even the guards on duty at the entrance of the Right Miao Village were half-lidded and dozing.

Suddenly, the guards were roused by the sound of orderly footsteps. They opened their eyes and saw a vast, dark mass of people heading straight for the Right Miao Village. They were startled out of their wits!

"What's going on? Why am I seeing a huge crowd? Am I still not sober?" one guard said, shaking his head.

"A huge crowd? I see them too. Am I dreaming as well?" another guard said, still muddled.

"This is bad—someone's attacking the Right Miao Village!" The third guard had drunk less. He had been muddled too, but after hearing the first two and looking at the dark mass of people before him, he suddenly realized something was wrong and shouted at the top of his lungs!

"Attacking the Right Miao Village?" The other guards sobered up at once and hurriedly grabbed the horns beside them, blowing "woo woo woo woo."

But Granny Lan was not afraid of them summoning help. In the Right Miao Village, only the Right Elder had superb Gu arts; the others among his trusted followers were far inferior. On the Blue Miao Village's side, Granny Lan, the Left Elder, Lan Ling, and even Liu Yan—any one of them was more formidable in Gu arts than anyone in the Right Miao Village apart from the Right Elder!
