"Isn't all that just stating the obvious? I know that much!" Kang Zhaoming snapped. "What I need right now is a practical solution, not this kind of theoretical analysis! I don't have any time left, do you understand? My family is pressing me hard. If I really fail to obtain the formula this time, my standing in the Kang family will plummet. Without me backing you two idiots, you won't be throwing your weight around like this anymore either!"

"Well..." Wang Shubin and Zhu Xiaozhang finally realized how serious the situation was. Indeed, if Kang Zhaoming lost favor within the Kang family, there was no way his two lackeys could continue enjoying the influence they wielded now.

"Well..." Wang Shubin hesitated. "Why don't you pay him a visit and say that you merely want to spend more time with Guan Xin and become friends? "Well... I don't think you're making a formal proposal, Young Master Kang. You're only asking to become friends with Guan Xin. For the sake of appearances, Guan Xuedmin shouldn't reject you outright. "As if!" Guan Xin shot her a glare. "I wouldn't go on a date with him if you paid me. Stop imagining things. My father is in Songshan City on business, and he's coming to pick me up tonight."

"Heh, so that's what it is!" Li Xiaomei nodded. "Isn't he the legendary major shareholder? Shouldn't the director be coming out to welcome him?"

"My father is only passing through. He isn't coming to the hospital for some grand inspection, so why would anyone notify the director?" Guan Xin could not help laughing helplessly. "All right, I'm off!"

After saying that, Guan Xin ran toward an Audi A6L parked near the hospital entrance. The car had been discreetly left some distance from the entrance and had not driven into the hospital grounds, so no one had realized that it belonged to Guan Xiaoxiang, one of the hospital's shareholders.

"Young Master Kang, Guan Xin's coming over..." Wang Shubin reminded Kang Zhaoming when he spotted her.

"Oh? She isn't taking the commuter shuttle?" Kang Zhaoming was startled. His original plan had been to wait until Guan Xin boarded the shuttle, then have the three of them follow behind in their car without drawing attention. Once they had confirmed that she was home, they would go to the Guan residence and pay a visit. But he had not expected Guan Xin to skip the shuttle. Could she have somewhere else to go today?

"No... Wait, Young Master Kang, she's getting into that Audi A6L. It has a Songshan City license plate..." Zhu Xiaozhang cried out, pointing in the direction Guan Xin had run.

"A Songshan City license plate? Could Guan Xin be going to meet a lover?" Kang Zhaoming's expression immediately darkened. The driver of a black Audi A6L was almost certainly a man, and from the light inside the car when Guan Xin opened the door, it was clear enough that the driver was male.

"I don't think so. The man looks fairly old..." Zhu Xiaozhang had sharp eyes and hurriedly pointed this out.

"Then is she someone's mistress?" Zhu Xiaozhang would have done better to keep quiet. His words made Kang Zhaoming's expression turn even uglier. "Find out who owns that car! Gah! This is infuriating!"

Kang Zhaoming felt as though he had suffered a tremendous humiliation. He had originally assumed that Guan Xin had rejected his advances because she was too pure, as blank as a sheet of paper, and had never been in love before, making her instinctively wary. Zhu Xiaozhang and Wang Shubin had no connections in Songshan City, but thanks to Kang Zhaoming, they knew plenty of people in Donghai City. After making a single phone call, they obtained the car's information from a friend in the insurance business.

"Young Master Kang, this car belongs to Mingyang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd..." Zhu Xiaozhang reported the result to Kang Zhaoming.

"Mingyang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.? Why does that name sound so familiar?" Kang Zhaoming frowned and repeated the name under his breath.

"I remember now, Young Master Kang. Isn't Mingyang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Guan Xin's father's company?" Wang Shubin had carefully studied Guan Xin's background before. When Kang Zhaoming had first decided to pursue her, Wang Shubin had been responsible for gathering information, and Kang Zhaoming had seen the report as well.
