Chapter 624 — The Astounded Chen Yutian: "Ah?" Wei Zhao's Words Left Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu Stunned at Once

Wei Zhao had never told the young lady or Shen Yushu anything about his background, and neither of them had given it a second thought. Now that he spoke of it, they realized that he had lived through so bleak a past! That he was actually an orphan?

They were already nearly half an hour past the appointed time — the two girls had dawdled at home for a while, and on top of that they had run into a traffic accident along the way and been stuck in a jam, which was why they were late.

Not one of the three wore so much as a trace of embarrassment. All three got out of the car with perfect self-assurance and walked toward the hotel.

Wei Zhao was nothing but an attendant, so whether they were late had nothing whatsoever to do with him. Strolling along at his ease behind the two of them, he entered the hotel.

Chen Yutian had long since arrived at the private room and was chatting with An Jianwen and Su Taizao. His face was as composed as ever, but inwardly he was seething! Partly because Qiu Lingshan had turned him down, and above all because of that Shield Bro who had popped out of nowhere!

His own sister had actually said she didn't need him? That she had her Shield Bro now?

They were still talking when a knock came at the door of the private room. An Jianwen started to rise and open it, to welcome Gu Mengyao, but Chen Yutian was on his feet a step ahead of him, wanting, no doubt, to see what manner of prodigy this so-called Shield Bro was.

"Come in!" As he spoke, Chen Yutian opened the door to the private room, and Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu walked in.

"Brother Yutian!" Gu Mengyao was always polite to Shen Yushu's brother. No sooner had she entered the room than she greeted him, and only afterward did she turn to An Jianwen and Su Taizao: "Brother Jianwen! Brother Taizao!"

"Big brother!" Shen Yushu followed Gu Mengyao into the room right behind her, but Chen Yutian's face had gone somewhat dark.

"And where is this Shield Bro of yours? Did he come along?" Chen Yutian was not by nature an impulsive man, but at this moment he had no choice but to stand up for himself. His sister had been stolen from him — how could he not be anxious? And Shen Yushu had made it perfectly plain: now that she had her Shield Bro, she had no use for her own brother!

How could that fail to gnaw at Chen Yutian? How could it not enrage him?

"Oh, you're looking for Shield Bro?" Shen Yushu seemed not to notice the taut, ready-to-spring expression on her brother's face. "He's right behind us!"

Chen Yutian nodded and strode with great nonchalance toward the door of the private room. The moment Wei Zhao stepped inside, he thrust out a hand: "You must be this Shield Bro, I take it. Allow me to introduce myself — I'm Xiaoshu's brother, Chen Yutian!"

Chen Yutian had it in mind to make this Shield Bro make a fool of himself. He was already at the early stage of the Yellow Tier, and ordinary people were no match for him; he simply wanted his sister to know that her brother would always be the strongest of them all!

"Heh..." Wei Zhao caught sight of Chen Yutian, and something rather odd crossed his face — yet he still reached out his hand.

"Allow me to introduce myself — I'm the Shield Bro you were talking about." Wei Zhao, however, cut him off with a smile. "I'm Yaoyao's and Xiaoshu's attendant."

"What?!" Chen Yutian was stunned all the more. He was Gu Mengyao's and his sister's attendant? What on earth was going on? How had he become an attendant? Were Gu Mengyao and his sister really such great personages? That they could actually recruit him as an attendant!

But watching the way Wei Zhao carried himself, Chen Yutian understood: Wei Zhao did not want him to reveal his true identity. By introducing himself this way, Wei Zhao was telling Chen Yutian that his identity now was Gu Mengyao's and Shen Yushu's attendant!

Though Chen Yutian found it scarcely believable, since Wei Zhao did not want to be exposed, he would not give him away. He simply seized Wei Zhao's hand with some excitement: "Hello, hello! My name is Chen Yutian, Shen Yushu's big brother. Hehe, haha..."

An Jianwen and Su Taizao, however, frowned. What had gotten into Chen Yutian? Before Wei Zhao arrived he had been declaring that he would teach a lesson to this Wei Zhao who had stolen his sister's heart — and now suddenly his manner had done this complete about-face?

Shen Yushu had not feared that her brother would bully Wei Zhao; on the contrary, she had wanted him to come off second best against Wei Zhao, so that he would wake up abruptly and stop thinking about that vixen Qiu Lingshan. But she had never expected her brother to take this attitude! It was as if he and Wei Zhao were sorry they had not met sooner!

"Since you're Shen Yushu's big brother, then I'll call you Brother Yutian." Wei Zhao was in fact younger than Chen Yutian, so calling him Brother Yutian cost him nothing.

Chen Yutian, however, was a little too flattered by the honor. He was about to decline when he caught Wei Zhao's sharp gaze and hastily nodded: "All right, then I'll presume on my seniority and call you little brother!"

Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu likewise stared wide-eyed. Was Chen Yutian really so easy to get along with? And even if Wei Zhao was their attendant-cum-bodyguard, and Chen Yutian was grateful to him for protecting them every day, there was no need for such effusive warmth, was there?

The two girls exchanged a glance, and in each other's eyes they saw a flicker of puzzlement.

Chen Yutian too realized he had grown too excited. He shook his head ruefully to himself — he was still too young, not yet steady enough!
