Chapter 580 — Clearing Up the Misunderstanding

The Blossom Guardian

"He... what did he say?" Tang Yun's heart clenched, and she looked at Liu Xinwen nervously.

"Wei Zhao, well..." Liu Xinwen deliberately drew the words out into a long note: "He was worried half to death. Said he'd be here right away!"

"Ah..." Warmth flooded Tang Yun's heart at once, though her face turned red, and she glared at Liu Xinwen with her lovely eyes: "You... you did that on purpose to make me nervous!"

Then she saw that her mother was already beaming, which only confirmed for Tang Yun that Liu Xinwen had done it deliberately! Earlier, when Liu Xinwen made the call, she had been sitting on the bed, some distance from Tang Yun, so Tang Yun could not hear what Wei Zhao said on the other end. But Mother Tang had been sitting right beside Liu Xinwen, so naturally she heard every word.

"Yunyun, it seems Wei Zhao really does like you. Tell me — could there be some misunderstanding here?" Liu Xinwen had calmed down by now. Wei Zhao's panic just then had been no act; it came straight from a genuine fear for Tang Yun!

Wei Zhao had always been steady, never rattled by anything. Even when trouble struck, he would not carry on like that. Surely only when the person in question was Tang Yun would he lose his composure so.

"I... I don't know." Tang Yun was a little bashful, and a secret sweetness stirred in her heart. Did he truly care about her? Did he love her? Now that her face was ruined, would he still bother with her? But then — what was the business with Feng Xiaoxiao?

Tang Yun's heart began to swing between hope and dread again. As for whether her face was ruined, she no longer gave it any thought...

"Yes, Yun'er, I'd say Wei Zhao likes you. How about this — in a bit I'll have a word with him, see what that girlfriend of his really means by it all, and where he stands!" Mother Tang was delighted too: "I hear that plenty of marriages between the great families are unhappy ones. Those men keep mistresses on the side, and what they truly love is the mistress, not the wife. If that's the way of it, you still have a chance!"

"Mom, what nonsense are you talking about!" Tang Yun's mood had improved a good deal as well, so when her mother cracked jokes like that, she no longer bristled the way she had before...

Wei Zhao rushed out of the school, got straight into his car, and tore off toward the First People's Hospital. On the way, he called Fatty Lai: "Fatty Lai, are you back yet?"

"Just got back. I was about to head to the company to look into the new product launch — our orders have already passed ten million!" Fatty Lai was thrilled. It was only the first day, and already so many orders had come in! Many of them, of course, were from companies tied to the families at the auction; they had gotten word at the earliest moment.

"Do you have Chuangshang on hand? Bring a bottle to Room 512, Ward Building Two, First People's Hospital. Quick as you can." Wei Zhao hesitated, then added: "Bring a bottle of the painkiller too."

Chuangshang had already gone into mass production, so Fatty Lai had plenty of samples on hand, and though the painkiller had not been mass-produced, there were some samples of it as well. The dressing packs of Chuangshang, however, were all gone; Wei Zhao had only just returned and had not mixed up a fresh batch. But Tang Yun's wound was new, so she had no need of the dressing pack — the ordinary version would do the job.

In fact, the doctors at the First Hospital knew about Tang Yun's injury as well, and that it had been healed with Divine Physician Kang's Golden Wound. It was only that Divine Physician Kang's Golden Wound was not something ordinary folk could buy; there was demand and no supply, and even the hospital had none, so they simply had not brought the matter up.

"I've got them. I'll be right there!" Fatty Lai said no more. The moment he received Wei Zhao's order, he set about carrying it out — that was Fatty Lai's way. Wei Zhao's word was law to him, and he obeyed it to the letter.

Wei Zhao paid no heed to the traffic lights either, driving straight for the hospital. Even if a camera caught him, Fatty Lai would pay the fines; at this moment Wei Zhao could not care less about penalties. Tang Yun mattered far more than any of that.

He strode into the sickroom. For the first time, Wei Zhao's composure slipped, and he could spare no thought for greeting Mother Tang or Liu Xinwen. He took Tang Yun's hand directly: "Tang Yun, what happened to you? How could you be so careless?"

Seeing the deep concern in Wei Zhao's eyes, Tang Yun's cheeks flushed faintly, and her heart brimmed with sweetness; yet out of shyness she tried to pull her little hand free of his big one: "You... let go of me! What are you doing here anyway? What if Feng Xiaoxiao finds out?"

"Feng Xiaoxiao?" Wei Zhao was taken aback.

"She... she's your girlfriend now. What does that make me?" Though Wei Zhao's expression struck her as a little strange, Tang Yun still reproached him, her heart aching.

"Her? My girlfriend? Since when did she become my girlfriend?" Hearing Tang Yun's words, Wei Zhao was caught between laughter and tears: "You're my girlfriend. How did it turn into her?"

Wei Zhao's words left Mother Tang and Liu Xinwen both dumbstruck!

Tang Yun was so astonished she did not know what to say, and inside, she was overjoyed beyond measure! She had already braced herself for the worst. When her mother told her to be Wei Zhao's mistress, to be honest, though she had recoiled emotionally, it was not a rejection from the very bottom of her heart; if she forced herself, she could accept it.

But Wei Zhao's words now truly startled and delighted her! Whether Wei Zhao was merely placating her, or whether it really was so, Tang Yun was already overjoyed! At least it meant that Wei Zhao still cared about her!

"Earlier, she told me she was your girlfriend, and that the money you gave my mother was the breakup fee you were paying me..." Tang Yun recounted in a small voice what had happened before, including how she had smashed her phone...

Wei Zhao was speechless, black lines all over his face. So that sum of money he had given had landed on the wrong purpose after all! And Feng Xiaoxiao, showing up as luck would have it, had seized the moment to spin it into a breakup fee! He could not help but smile bitterly: "You still don't know what Feng Xiaoxiao is like? She's mad as a hare all day long and dares to do anything. How could you believe a word she says?"

"I..." Hearing Wei Zhao's explanation, Tang Yun knew she had gotten it all wrong, and she was rather speechless herself. Yet she also felt a quiet shame. Yes — she had not trusted Wei Zhao. If she had believed in him, would any of this have happened?

But a girl's heart is always sensitive, and a girl newly caught up in the throes of love fears above all losing the one she loves. So Tang Yun could hardly be blamed for her doubts — who could help it if things had fallen out so coincidentally?

Mother Tang, meanwhile, was all smiles. From the look of it, this had been a misunderstanding the whole time! She could not help but resent her daughter inwardly. How could she be so petty and small-minded? Even if that Feng Xiaoxiao truly did have something with Wei Zhao, you still should not have given up on yourself like that! You should have held on, seized your happiness! How could you simply decide it was hopeless and let it go?

Thank goodness Wei Zhao had come and cleared the misunderstanding up!
