Chapter 269 — The Legend of Overlord Sea and His Kun
The Beast-Taming Craftsman Page 2 of 3
Of course, that was only an isolated case. Apart from the Legend of the Overlord Sea, Yu Zhihui, no one else has ever been able to raise a Blue Salamander to such heights—yet another irreproducible example.
Compared to the Green Woolly Worm and the Dragon Carp, this mud is even harder to cultivate!
The Green Woolly Worm at least has its silk threads, and the Dragon Carp at least has an evolution skill like Leaping the Dragon Gate, but the Blue Salamander has nothing—just a trashy Bubble skill... it's hard even to gamble on it.
"Hello!!"
While Shi Jin was observing the Blue Salamanders, a woman in a blue dojo uniform came to greet him, asking with a smile, "Are you Mr. Shi Jin?"
"I am." Shi Jin turned to look at her.
"Hello. I'm Shen Yu, a teacher at the dojo. The master instructed me to bring you to the private room."
"Thank you for your trouble." Shi Jin acknowledged, and then this Miss Shen Yu began leading him to the quiet room within the dojo reserved especially for honored guests.
This room was not only for Shi Jin's personal use; the twelve youths soon to attend the Dragon Palace Banquet—all those who had already arrived at the dojo—had been invited to wait here.
By now, there were already seven people in the room.
A disciple of the Legend of the Overlord Sea—a young man nearing thirty, dashing and elegant in appearance—was acting as host, chatting animatedly with the other six.
"I won't be going this time. I went with my master to the last Dragon Palace Banquet, and my Great Dragon King Squid was contracted then, haha."
"Anyway, I hope all of you get the pet beasts you've set your hearts on."
"There should be plenty of Overlord-level sea beasts there. Don't be nervous—when the time comes in the various activities to show your strength and talent, just perform normally. You're all the chosen ones; you'll be fine."
Knock knock knock.
Inside, everyone was listening to the experience being shared by Zheng Hai, the Legend of the Overlord Sea's disciple, who already possessed a Level Seven space and needed only one Overlord-level creature to be judged a Legendary Beast Tamer.
This man was also hailed domestically as one of the genius Beast Tamers destined for Legend status. He was also, after the Legend of the Overlord Sea, the second Beast Tamer to cultivate a Blue Salamander into a Kun-species. Though it was not a mutated Kun like the Legend of the Overlord Sea's and had not reached such heights—its species being far inferior—it was still commendable.
For this reason, he had been taken in as a disciple by the Legend of the Overlord Sea and carefully groomed.
Now, all his ace pet beast lacked to reach Overlord level was perhaps proficiency in a super-tier skill.
"Please come in."
At the knock, Zheng Hai looked over, and the other six in the room looked over as well. The door was pushed open, and Shen Yu led Shi Jin into the room.
"Master Zheng, Mr. Shi Jin has arrived too."
After Shen Yu spoke, all eyes in the room instantly fell upon Shi Jin.
Shi Jin's gaze swept over the room as well.
Seven people. Apart from Zheng Hai, there were six others—two of whom Shi Jin knew.
One was Zuo Heng's daughter, Xia Yan, a top student at Modu University with a talent for growth. The other was Yin Huan, the genius son of Legend Yin.
At this moment, Xia Yan was fine, but the moment young Yin Huan saw Shi Jin arrive, he fell silent.
[What exactly happened back then in the Time Ruins?]
Yin Huan still could not let it go.
The other four, Shi Jin was rather unfamiliar with.
There was a burly man over two meters tall with a physique that did not look like a normal human's... Shi Jin guessed this must be that human-dragon hybrid, Jia Qi. Seeing that it was not the Little Dragon Girl but a dragon-man, Shi Jin felt somewhat peculiar.
Besides him, there was a woman with wavy blue-dyed hair who looked rather cool and was dressed quite skimpily... Gu
The last two: one was a young man with a buzz cut, wearing a white shirt and glasses, who looked utterly unremarkable; the other had short hair, was dressed all in black, and had a fierce look about him—even fiercer than that muscular human-dragon hybrid, as if he had just walked out of a detention center, exuding menace.
"Hi, everyone," Shi Jin said with a faint smile as he saw the crowd.
"Mr. Shi Jin... welcome," Zheng Hai said with a laugh.
Though he was the disciple of the Overlord Sea Legend and a renowned quasi-legend, Zheng Hai did not dare put on airs before Shi Jin—after all, this man was not yet twenty, yet he was a true super-genius who had developed major projects of national benefit like the Green Worm Cocoon.
"Sect Master Zheng," Shi Jin greeted him.
Zheng Hai smiled again and at once began introducing everyone to one another.
Xia Yan and Yin Huan needed no introduction; as for the others, Shi Jin finally learned who they were.
The muscular man was indeed of mixed blood, named Long Rui, a graduate of Demon Capital University and a master-level beast tamer.
"Hello, I've heard much of you," he said, baring his teeth in a grin.
The blue-haired woman came from an elemental family and had graduated from the top university in Ling Capital, known as the City of Elements; she was a master-level elemental summoner.
"Junior Shi Jin, I finally get to see the real you—you look much more handsome than in your photos," she said, winking at him.
"Hello, senior," Shi Jin said, his smile growing even brighter, which made Xia Yan beside him curl her lip.
The bespectacled young man had graduated from Star Capital University, known as the City of Technology, and was a master-level mechanic.
"Hello," he said, pushing up his glasses in brief greeting.
The last of them came from a dragon-taming family, a graduate of Imperial Capital University, named Yun Feng, and was a master-level dragon tamer.
He was rather cold and proud, and merely nodded.
The group had one trait in common: they all came from first-tier cities and distinguished families.
Shi Jin knew exactly who they were, but they were all quite familiar with him—there was no help for it, Shi Jin was simply too famous...
"Where were we..." Once everyone had introduced themselves and the conversation had not run deep—they had only just met, after all—Zheng Hai fell into thought again. But as the hour approached, the later arrivals came very quickly, and there was no time left for him to ramble.
The next moment, there was another knock at the door, and a young man in a cloak, about Shi Jin's age, entered the room.
"I am Yu Shu." The future "Dragon King Yu Shu" walked straight in; when he saw Shi Jin and Yin Huan among the assembled company, his face immediately darkened.
He had a bad feeling about this trip to the Dragon Palace... He had told his mother he wasn't coming, wasn't coming—confound it.
Yo.
Shi Jin looked at Yu Shu with a smile.
It had to be said, Ancient Capital University was really showing its prestige this time—three of its people were heading to the former Frost City, and all of them were still students...
If Yin Huan hadn't fled to Imperial Capital University, they might well have made it four!
"So everyone's already here."
A short while later, the beast-eared girl Bai Xi also arrived. Once on the scene, she clearly knew more people than Shi Jin did—the several masters, for instance, were all old rivals of Ancient Capital University, having fought "bloody battles" against it in the national tournament.
Bai Xi plopped down beside Shi Jin with a grin.
After that, two more arrived together, both in naval combat uniforms—evidently geniuses from the Beast-Taming Corps, whose deeds the others knew least about.
"Am I late?" Finally, the Heaven-Shaking King Zou Yun also arrived with a hearty laugh. This one's strength was likely no weaker than Sect Master Zheng Hai's—perhaps he was the strongest of them all. With the arrival of Zou, a national-level star beast tamer, the Seaside Dojo grew livelier by the moment.
